About the Indiana Cultural Tourism

IndianaCulturalTourism.org promotes cultural enrichment experiences throughout the state, focusing mainly on nonprofit venues. The news site is operated by students pursuing master’s degrees in public relations in the Department of Communication at the University of Indianapolis.

The United Nations in 2017 defined cultural tourism as “a type of tourism activity in which the visitor’s central motivation is to learn, discover, experience and consume the tangible and intangible cultural attractions/products in a tourism destination. These attractions/products relate to a set of distinctive material, intellectual, spiritual and emotional features of a society that encompasses arts and architecture, historical and cultural heritage, culinary heritage, literature, music, creative industries and the living cultures with their lifestyles, value systems, beliefs and traditions.”

To all that, we’ll add that cultural tourism is fun!
